In February 2007, I was placed on medical leave without pay at my job after 17 years. I was depressed. I was overweight (280 lbs.). I was lazy. I was ready to give up. My sister-in-law had lost 60 pounds walking in water so I decided that if she could do it so could I. I had a membership at the Mayfield Graves County YMCA for several years and hardly used it.
I started out just walking in the pool. Someone suggested that I go to water aerobics. I started attending Bonnie’s 8:30am water aerobics class and I thought I would die after the first class! It was real exercise but it was just what I needed.
I really did not start to lose weight until sometime in April or May after God sent a man into my life who changed my world. I was sitting in church and this handsome young man was several rows ahead of me. We went out to eat lunch after church and we have been together since. Michael is 11 years younger than I and he is physically fit. He eats right and exercises every day. He jogs. Hew works out and encouraged me to do the same.
In the past 18 months I have lost almost 100 pounds using the water aerobics class, walking at the Kess Creek Park track and eating healthier foods.
The best part of my story is that I allowed Jesus to come into my heart and I allow Him to lead me and control my life. I give Him the glory for this transformation. Without Him I am nothing.
By the way, I told you I was 285 pounds eighteen months ago, today I weigh 190 pounds and it is a battle everyday. Remember if you do the same thing, you get the same results. In order for that to change, you have to change the way you think and the results will be unbelievable.
I am living proof!!
